Beat the Beat is an audio based survival game. Players can choose to play a random song from the default collection, or to drag and drop one of their favorite MP3's and try their hand at surviving their own music library. The game was made by Ryan King and myself using the Phaser framework almost entirely within a single 12 hour span.
My personal responsibilities on Beat The Beat were the beat detection algorithm, the game states, and the drag and drop functionality. The beat detection was fun to program as I had never done anything of the sort before, and while it is not perfect, it is fairly accurate. The best part is, it is only about 10 lines of actual code. All in all, I am very happy with how the game came out, as it is very enjoyable to watch and play.
